Where They Are Now

At Omni Academy of Beauty we like to follow the progress of our students as they start their new career.

Nadine Pyke VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Nail Technology & VTCT Level 3 Award in Lash Extensions

My creative training began in Art and Design at Richmond Upon Thames College then onto West Thames College to study the Media Makeup ITEC course. Then I found Omni Academy of Beauty, Walton on Thames. I extended my existing skills with a nail technology course and a lash extensions course.

I also have an amazing level of product knowledge having been a Bobbi Brown artist, a MAC stylist, a Manager for Stila & a Manager for Clinique before I started my own company, giving me extensive experience applying makeup to all skin tones across the board.

Some amazing recent jobs and clients in my busy schedule include Stacey Jackson FT Snoop DoggMusic Video, Jay Sean Photo Shoot, L’Oreal fashion shows, corporate work for Barclays, British Airways, and Superdry and also some of the most luxurious weddings in the country.

My job involves making up and applying lash extensions daily on clients all over the country for Weddings, photo shoots and special events.

I do have a fun job 🙂

Lauren Condliffe, Nikki Pittwood, Suzanne Porter & Paula Suter VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques

Theses ladies completed their Level 2 course via the Wednesday evening route. All had full time jobs when they began their training so this evening option gave them the flexibility they needed to retrain without having to sacrafice their current careers. Immediately upon completing their course, they launched ‘The Tranquility Spa’.

“A little bit about tranquillity spa, we are 4 beauty therapists that aim to create a tailor made package for all of our clients, allowing for salon quality treatments in the comfort of your own home, surrounded by your friends.

With regards to our prices we can structure the party in one of two ways, the first being a package price list. Within this package we have two price ranges, the first is for a party of 6-10 guests, the price per person is £45 and each guest receives 3 treatments ( of which I have listed below). The second package is for a party of over 10 guests in which the price is £35 per person, with each guest again getting 3 treatments.

The other way we can structure it is to pay as you go- so each treatment is paid for individually- again I have listed the prices below for you. (minimum of 10 treatments)

Also the host will receive one free treatment, we simply need a minimum of 10 treatments to be booked or package number

Thanks and if you need any more info just shout 🙂

The Tranquillity Spa team!”

Ana Eady VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Indian Head Massage

Ana worked as an Account Manager in the financial services industry for 8 years, having graduated from university with a degree in Modern Languages. She never quite felt at home working in Finance and wanted to do something that meant she could be her own boss, have flexibility with family life and make people feel great about themselves. She had always had treatments herself and loved the feeling of instant gratification that they gave. With a product collection that was ever expanding she decided to train as a beauty therapist and put her interests into practice and work towards a career change, that could fulfill her desires.

She enrolled in a local college and gained my NVQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy in 2010 following a 2 year evening course. On moving to the Walton-on-Thames area she discovered Omni Academy of Beauty and gained further Level 3 qualifications in additional Holistic treatments.

“With their encouragement I’ve had the courage to set up my own at home and mobile beauty business in the local area and am currently busy building Paloma Blanca Beauty. Carolyne and her team have been hugely supportive and their advice has been invaluable, it has definitely been the best decision I’ve made, and I’m loving every minute of this new and exciting career!”

Amy Hunsworth VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques

Having two young daughters to look after meant it was difficult for me to go back to the job that I had done before and so I began to look into doing something new where I could be my own boss and fit my work around my children with enough scope to leave me with lots to do when they both start school. Having always been interested in the Beauty Industry I decided to look into this as my career change. As soon as I discovered Omni Academy of Beauty I knew it would be the place for me to learn my new trade as it’s focus on up-to-date, flexible, and practical learning really suits my already busy lifestyle. Having successfully completed my Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques I am now busy setting up my mobile and at home Beauty Therapy business and intend to continue studying at Isis on the Holistic Massage Therapy Course.

Patricia Dopemu VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques

I worked as an administrator for many years but went back to University, I graduated with a Law degree as a matured student and I got a job with the Home Office. I enjoyed the work because I love people and the job gave me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. However, it did not give me the opportunity to give people that personal touch on a one to one basis. I have always loved the Beauty Industry, passionate beauty therapy as I usually have lots of beauty treatments myself. However, I sometimes find it difficult to get appointments for treatments, especially at the weekends. Also, I am experienced in Afro/Caribbean Hairdressing and managed a family-owned salon in London few years ago and I had a lot of satisfaction from it.

A combination of these things led me to start thinking of having my own beauty place, a haven where people can come to be pampered, unwind and relax. I started to look at how I can get a beauty qualification. I was a bit reluctant at first because studying for an NVQ qualification meant I would be studying with teenagers in the classroom. However, I found Omni Academy and discovered that the college catered for matured people looking for career change and offered flexible study times to fit around work and family.

I called the Academy and spoke to Carolyne, she was wonderful and everything was sorted out for me promptly and efficiently and I secured a place on the VTCT level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques Course in January 2010. I qualified and in August the year I set up Blossoms Hair and Beauty. I feel so fulfilled and I am in the process of booking a few Level 3 courses at Isis to add to my portfolio. I’m ever so grateful to Omni Academy and mostly to Carolyne for being instrumental to fulfilling a dream.

Rianna Farbey (VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques, VTCT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Beauty Therapy, VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Stone Therapy (Hot Stones)

“My Journey into beauty began in January 2010. I met with Carolyne on the 3rd January. She was very welcoming and friendly. I explained that I was interested in working on cruise ships eventually, and was delighted to hear that she had first hand experience in this, as she too worked on the ships at the beginning of her career.
I fell in love with the course and the industry straight away. There were only eight in our class, this small number allowed us to bond quickly and create a comfortable, relaxed learning environment. With each week our confidence grew. A few weeks into the course Carolyne informed me that there was a Level 3 course starting and it was possible for me to study Level 2 and Level 3 simultaneously. The decision did not take me long to make. Before long I was fast tracking myself onto the cruise ships!
I began working at The Beauty Lounge, Byfleet whilst I was still studying my Level 3 qualification.
Once I had completed my Level 3, I applied for a cruise ship. I was accepted upon interview and I completed an exciting 9 month contract working on board Royal Caribbean and Celebrity ships.
I am now back home and working with Carolyne at Omni. I am able to combine my previous skills in the media and my passion for beauty in one role. Since joining the team and managing the Marketing and PR for Omni, my role has developed and I am now a Company Director managing student liaisons and business development. I also maintain a small client base as a mobile therapist.”

Lisa Smyth (VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Swedish Massage, VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy, VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Stone Therapy, VTCT Level 3 in Reflexology, Flower Essence, Meridian Massage, Trigger Point)

It has been nearly six months since I moved back to Zimbabwe, so I thought I would let you know how I am getting along. I have found an upmarket shop which sells vitamin supplements and health foods. They rent two adjacent rooms out, and I share the rooms with a variety of Osteopaths, Physiotherapists, and Neuromuscular therapists. What a great environment for someone newly qualified to work in, as I can take my numerous and varied queries to seasoned practitioners.
My Swedish Massage is most in demand, and I work in conjunction with the Osteopath, treating clients before she sees them. This is an intensive way to build up my remedial knowledge on treatment of injuries and skeletal problems. Reflexology and Aromatherapy I find are less well known, and a description of a Hot Stone Massage has raised a few eyebrows, but word is spreading. I have been approached by a variety of businesses looking to do ‘package deals’, and thank goodness for the skills that the Business Course taught me, I have avoided a few hard lessons.
Not a day goes by that I don’t look back at my clients and thank the heavens for the commonsense approach you taught all of us at Omni, as I have had a few ‘real life’ experiences with all different sorts of people. I have also managed to maintain my poise through the challenges of working in a Third World country – no electricity for weeks on end, no water, no telephones. My college learning has stood me in great stead, as I calmly make another plan, whether its kindling a fire to heat my hot stones, or taking my massage couch into the garden to counter the lack of lighting inside.
I also volunteer my services at our town’s Cancer Centre – a humbling experience as I work with a class of people who would never have been able to afford a treatment on their own. Consumables are very very limited as they rely on nearly non-existent donations – our aromatherapy kit consists of two sticky bottle of lavender oil. I work closely with the doctors and counsellors, learning about cancer treatments and how I can complement their radiation, chemotherapy or surgical procedures.
All in all although I have had to work very hard and have been frustrated and irritated, I am so glad I threw in my corporate job and took up what I truly feel is my life’s calling. I end my days tired and satisfied that I have done some good to someone. We have just found out we are pregnant, and to be able to adjust my schedule to suit my energy levels and abilities has been invaluable.
Thank you Carolyne, for a solid grounding that ensured I would succeed at earning my living from Holistic Therapies.
